Abilash Jeyarajah, the four-month-old baby who has been known as “Baby 81” was reunited with his parents in a courtroom in Sri Lanka on February 16th.
Abilash was found on a beach in Sri Lanka among dead bodies and debris after the tsunami hit on December 26th. He was taken to a hospital and given the name “Baby 81” because he was the day’s 81st admission.
He was claimed by nine couples, but only one couple, Jenita and Murubupillai Jeyarajah, filed a court action to get the baby back.
A DNA test was used to confirm that they were the actual parents, and when the judge viewed the results of the test, he ordered that the baby boy be given to the Jeyarajahs immediately.
After leaving the courtroom, the couple took their baby to five Hindu temples to thank the Gods for his safe return.
